Sainsbury’s announces two-day closure over Christmas as thank you to staff.

Alison Tribe: No supermarket should be open, not just this year but all years, if they can’t shut for two days over the Christmas period it’s a disgrace,no need for them to be open give staff two full days off every year to get some much needed time off don’t forget these supermarkets and shops start Christmas from September.

Jill Thoroughgood: Not much of a thank you, you have to use holidays, work another day or take unpaid!

Rebecca White: My employers have closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and it’s a pub.

Julie Davidson: Well done Sainsbury’s!! Well deserved, should be the norm, we can last 48 hours without shopping!! Usually have enough food to feed an army!!

Brian Kirby: Brilliant, well done Sainsbury’s thank you for looking after your hard working staff.

David Green: They should be shut Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Teresa Barns: All retailers should close including the fast food chains.

Sarah Tasker: So they should. All shops should be çlosed.

Wendy Casey: How to treat your employees properly, well done.

Audrey Mccarthy: That's good news but why not New Years Day also.

Jackie Brannigan: Great news. Hope it continues in future years.

Neil Cain: Believe the whole of the retail sector should follow suit.

Lesley Cheal: I remember when I was in retail. We were allowed to choose depending on numbers which day we preferred off Boxing Day or New Years. Like you say the catch being we had to make sure we had a days holiday remaining to enable us to do it. Certainly wasn't goodwill.

Lorraine Evans: All shops should shut.
