More comments on Norwegian firm Quantafuel wanting to build new recycling plant at Port of Sunderland creating hundreds of jobs.

Marion Jaconelli: Great news and well done to all involved. Sadly the minority will still find something to moan about or throw accusations around. The foundations and infrastructure are being laid for a promising future.

Clive Kettley: Any economic boost to the city is great news along with increased shipping for the port.

Angela Wilkinson: Is the newly formed Quantafuel Sunderland Ltd the parent company or something else ? Guessing the planning process includes due diligence ?

Monique Swan: Why are we not building it? Sick of hearing other countries building stuff here.

Lee Cook: Just a dumping ground, already have a hazardous solvent waste plant, a sewage works that constantly stinks, already a metal recycling plant there that's makes noise day and night.

Hey but it's OK it's only Hendon.

Olaf Hammett: As long as it’s not the same kind of plastic recycling centre that Consett was going to get. Burning plastic that created steam to create electricity. With a 50 metre chimney that only steam comes out. Public fought against and won as no guarantees what chemicals were coming out of the chimney.

Tom Henry: So tons of rubbish will be coming, I think we need more info as to the method of its arrival.

John Cairns: Is this for Sunderland or for shipping waste in to be processed?

John Lamb: Good news but yet another foreign country controlling things when we should be making this investment. I'm far from xenophobic but the current gas crisis illustrates how we rely too much on others instead of having our own hands on the tiller.

Julie Carr: Such negativity, how about seeing the positives.

Barry Mashall: Hope it goes ahead, good luck.

Lee Mckinney: More jobs the better.
