Seaham Red Star striker Adam Lennox revealed he is “full of confidence” after his second hat-trick of the season helped his side to a 4-2 win against Whitley Bay.

The two sides were level at half-time in their Northern League Division One clash, after two goals from the former Jarrow frontman were cancelled out by Richard Coulson and Adam Shanks.

Daniel Sayer put Mark Collingwood’s side ahead just after the hour-mark and Lennox made it 13 goals for the season when he completed his treble from the penalty spot in the closing stages.

Lennox said: “We didn’t play too well in the first-half. We were lucky to go in level, but had a lot more desire in the second-half and showed our will to win.

“Obviously we got the win in the end, and it was great to get a hat-trick because I am full of confidence and feel I can score with every chance that comes my way.”

Elsewhere, a dogged display from Sunderland RCA went without reward as goals from Arjun Purewal and Stephen Callen gave leaders Consett a 2-0 home win against Steve Riley’s side.

Ryhope CW were beaten by the odd goal in five at home against Redcar Athletic.

The two sides were level at half-time as Robbie Bird’s opener for Ryhope was cancelled out by Jordan Rivis.

After seeing their hosts reduced to 10 men by Danni Lay’s dismissal, Athletic took the lead through Nicky Martin. Chris Trewick restored parity with 20 minutes left, before Isaac Walker’s winner for Redcar.

Steven Roberts’ hat-trick

inspired Guisborough Town to a 3-1 win at Crook in the only other top-tier game.

Sunderland West End missed the opportunity to close the gap on Division Two leaders Heaton Stannington, losing at Jarrow.

Lewis Charlton, Aiden

King and Brad Moncur netted for West End – but they were condemned to a 6-3 defeat by a Channon North hattrick, a Gary Shaw brace and a goal from Jason Blackburn.

Levi Collins also hit a treble and Jamie Whitehead, Sam Attewell and Oscar

Taylor were all on target as Boldon CA won by the same scoreline at Bedlington.

A Tim Browne brace gave Newcastle University a 2-0 win at Washington and Lewis Teasdale and Drew Lake scored in Tow Law’s 2-1 home win over Ryton & Crawcrook.
