Petrol stations across Sunderland appear to be quiet as the Environment Secretary calls on motorists to stop “panic buying”

Karen Turner: Well done everyone in the north east!! As I'm a Sunderland fan, can I drive up there from Peterborough to get some petrol as I am struggling down here!!

Frank Whitford:

They are quiet because there's nothing left just drove past the Jet in Cleadon and all the pumps had the sorry out of service covers on.

Mel Wilson: I drove from Bishop Auckland to Sunderland yesterday, went to every station on my way, not one had diesel, until I got to the Jet garage on Durham Road, it’s bonkers.

Catherine Sweeney:

They're quiet cos they have no fuel left. Morrisons Dalton Park was closed this morning no fuel.

Angela Graham:

Because we are sensible. Government shouldn’t be scaremongering. People shouldn’t be filling everything in sight.

Del Ramsay: Why are some garages saying there is no unleaded E10 but they have Premium E5 unleaded that costs £1.49. Went to another petrol station and found unleaded E10. Not seen any queuing at any petrol stations well done Sunderland.

Demi Mcmahon: This is because they were emptied the first few hours and ain't no petrol left!

Jim Ward: Daughter got £30 of petrol at Morrisons Dalton Park on Sunday, she was only one there, I got diesel at Quarry garage in Houghton only three people there today.

Lisa Pendleton: Well done Sunderland!

James Mcgrath: Morrisons in Doxford Park have queues out the car park.

Jonathan Belassie: Stop it. There’s not a petrol shortage. There are gallons of the stuff in storage.

Jacqueline Thompson:

I got petrol no bother at Pallion yesterday and Thompson Road and Morrisons at Seaburn were OK too.
