Five-star Sunday show from Lee sees Easington win convincing­ly

Michael Lee was the goal hero for Easington Southside during Sunday’s First Division action in the SSK Recruitmen­t Peterlee and District League.

Lee bagged five of his side’s goals in a 7-3 romp against Sea ham Odd fellows Arms, with Lewis Smith netting a brace. Jack Appleby, Alex Charlton and Michael Cahill were on target for the Oddfellows.

Two goals from Tom Williams for Easington Victory saw them beat promotion con lee H el ford United 2-1, with Tom Gilling on the mark for Helford.

Roseberry Park and Easington Mechanics shared the points at 1-1, with Tom Nicholson netting for the Mechanics. They finished with 10 men after Carl Price was shown a straight red for a late tackle. Jack Naylor replied for Roseberry Park.

A brace from Matthew Griffiths enabled Sherburn Unitedto earn a point at 2-2 against Wingate Howden, with Dave Cummings and Martin Mason both netting for Howden.

In the Premier Division, Peter lee Catholic Club continue to march on at the top. Last Sunday, they cruised to a 3-0 win against Easington Welfare, with a brace from Jack Po under and a strike from sub Liam Dunn.

Shotton Comrades bounced back to winning ways following their5-1win against Seaham Marlboroug­h, with two goals from Conor Beeston, plus others from Nathan Grainger, Jack Hart and Peter Johnson. Sub Tony Little netted for the Marlboroug­h.

In the Second Division, Peter lee Acre Rigg Social Club maintained their promotion aspiration­s even at this early stage when a Philip Robinson hat-trick and a strike from Craig Johnston saw them enjoy a 4-0 win against Seaham Park FC. A closer match saw Peterlee United edge a fivegoal encounter after beating Horden Labour Club 3-2, thanks to a Jake Briggs double and ago al from Matthew P li mm er, with Nicolas Davies nettingtwi­ce for the Labour Club.

Michael Wilson was on form for Seaham the Knack with four goals in their 5-3 win against Peterlee Inclusion. Michael Charlton also found the target, while a hattrick from Chris Black and a brace from Karl Arkwright helped East Durham to a 7-1 victory over Peterlee Hearts. In two Durham County Sunday Cup matches, Easington LaneWMClos­t1-0toStockto­n Portrack, while Haswell Oddfellows Arms progressed 2-0 over Sunderland Mill View.
