Collingwood adamant Red Star are looking up and fear nobody
Seaham Red Star manager Mark Collingwood admitted confidence is high amongst his squad as they look to break into the upper echelons of the Northern League Division One table.
Seaham Red Star crept into the top ten with their midweek home victory against Redcar Athletic and could move to within two points of the top five if they secure a fifth win in seven games at Northallerton Town this weekend.
The run of good form has coincided with Collingwood’s refreshing of his squad and a number of youngsters have flourished in recent weeks.
Red Star boss Collingwood told The Echo: “We are looking at the top five and we are not looking down, we are looking up.
“Apart from the Thornaby game, we have been excellent with a squad with an average age of about 21-years-old.
“With respect to Northallerton, it’s a winnable game and we fear nobody because are getting better game-on-game.
“It’s nice to be where we are, it’s nice not to be in the bottom three and we are really enjoying it.”
Goalkeeper Andrew Jennison will miss out as he is unavailable and Collingwood will hand a start to Jack Patton.
Ryhope CW will be without suspended defender
Danni Lay for their home game against Guisborough Town and new signing Matthew Weirs will feature for Sunderland RCA when they visit Newton Aycliffe.
Elsewhere on Saturday
afternoon, Dale Pearson returns from suspension to take place in the Consett squad as the league leaders entertain fellow promotion contenders North Shields.
Steve Bowey will take
temporary charge of Whickham for the first time as his side travel away to face his former club Newcastle Benfield.
Tom Bramley, Max Emmerson and Bobby Taylor will miss Ashington’s home game with Crook Town and Whitley Bay have new signing Aidan McGee available for their trip to West Auckland Town.
West Allotment Celtic are targeting a second consecutive league win when they host Redcar Athletic and Billingham Town have a strong squad available for their home game with Penrith.
