Ambulance service reaches out with online videos

-

Ambulance chiefs are launching a series of online videos to help reach thousands of school pupils and community groups.

Covid restrictions, coupled with demands on the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS), has severely limited the life-saving service’s ability to share emergency health advice face to face over the past two years.

It has now developed a series of videos to share information about how and when to use the service, CPR and the role of a paramedic with schools, community, patient groups and future applicants.

NEAS engagement manager Mark Johns said: “Since the pandemic, it has been very difficult to get out and about.

We would normally visit about 300 groups or events every year and we know people still need information and advice on our services.

“To make it easier for us to reach out to people virtually, we’ve developed a number of online resources people can access.”

The service has produced a range of standard videos for anyone and everyone who has an interest in, including CPR, life-saving skills, how and when to use 999 and NHS111.

The videos are particularly targeted at Key Stage 2 children (aged 7 to 11) and adults, along with a patient transport service video, aimed at people with learning difficulties, which is due in the next month.

A virtual tour of an ambulance, which people can control and navigate and interactive quizzes will follow soon.

Videos are now available at www.neas.nhs.uk with adult & BSL versions at www. neas.nhs.uk/patient-info and school-age versions at www. neas.nhs.uk/get-involved/ learning-zone
