Lacewing can make trip count at ‘market

-

Red Lacewing can make her trip to Britain pay by taking home Listed honours in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Bosra Sham" Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket.

Trained in Ireland by Fozzy Stack, this daughter of No Nay Never has shown more than enough in two outings to suggest she could make up into a classy filly in due course.

Beaten into third by HMS Endeavour on her first outing at Navan in August, she got her head in front at the second time of asking in a Naas, beating New York City by a head with the front pair pulling nicely clear.

She was not the sharpest away that day and she did not enjoy the smoothest passage either.

But she showed a nice turn of foot at the finish and a couple of those in behind have won or placed subsequently to give the form a solid feel.

Red Lacewing is a half-sister to Group One winner The Last Lion so her pedigree certainly promises better things, and her Irish 1,000 Guineas entry for next year suggests connections are hoping she will hit the heights too.

Eldrickjones is becoming a bit frustrating to follow, but he theoretically has everything in his favour in the British Stallion Studs EBF Conditions Stakes.

Second at huge odds in the Coventry Stakes back in June, he has fallen short in a handful of Group race assignments since but finally got off the mark when dropped to maiden level at Pontefract last month.

Roger Fell must have been hoping he could kick on from that, but he has had to settle for second in two subsequent runs, must recently on the Newcastle all weather.

Moved back to turf here, Eldrickjones' rating of 97 puts him miles ahead of his major rivals given his juvenile allowance, and he can take advantage.

Too Friendly can make it two from two over obstacles in the nhstallions.co.uk Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle at Wetherby.

A maiden winner on the Flat for George Scott, Too Friendly made a seamless transition to hurdles for Dan Skelton when winning at Stratford earlier in the month.

The margin of victory that day was a length and a half, but he travelled well and, barring a minor mistake at the last, he jumped pretty well and a Listed heat like this looks a decent aim.

Whoshotthesheriff can take the other Listed prize, the Cash Out At bet365 Handicap Chase.

A narrow winner of the

Bobby Renton at this track on his seasonal bow, Whoshotthesheriff had an alternate option in Sunday's Colin

Parker Intermediate Chase.

But Phil Kirby's decision to head here instead should pay dividends.
