STORY:

Some people have called for the BBC to switch to a subscription model. Here’s what readers thought about the idea.

Sean Harte: Whether it is worth the money or not is utterly irrelevant. The current model is archaic and outdated. You should choose to pay for the service or not, not have it regardless and enforced pathetically.

David Price: The only contract you don’t actually sign up for, ridiculous and outdated.

Lee Nana Bear Jackson:

Pointless, I pay for it along with subscriptions for 5 others ie Netflix etc, don't watch TV but gotta have a licence to watch subscriptions, don't see the point.

Lee Nana Bear Jackson:

I was told when I got caught and took to court I had to pay for a licence if u watch now TV subscription as it's sky, and netfix, got 1000 pound fine, even though I didn't have a aerial in not getting done again x

Andre Russell: Lee

Nana Bear Jackson, you only need a licence if you watch live tv or bbc iplayer. Anything else you don’t need a licence for.

David Wheelhouse: Lee Nana Bear Jackson You don't need a tv licence for Netflix.

Martin Nufc Healy: Waste of money I think they get enuff money out of us never owt decent to watch just bleed people dry.

Carol Burton: Absolute waste of money, can’t remember the last time I watched bbc.

Mel Davis: Never watched it is a total waste but sadly as watch live TV on sky I have to have a licence. They should run on adverts same as every other channel!

Kevin Guffick: Very unfair if you don't watch BBC at all.

Frank Booker: Let's be clear, this is not a licence solely for the BBC. You have to have a licence to view ANY live TV, no matter what the channel is. So whether the BBC is worth it or not is irrelevant.

Joan Fletcher: BBC 1 and BBC 2 have more repeats every day than any other channels.
