Warning over any anti-social behaviour

- By Sarah Pitt Chief Supt, Southern Area Command

Halloween and Bonfire Night are fast approaching and I’m sure families and friends will be looking forward to meeting up over the coming weeks.

It’s always a busy time from a policing perspective and I’m sure this year will be no different.

Above all, we want everyone to be able to enjoy the Halloween and Bonfire Night period safely and contribute positively to their communities.

If you are attending any of our region’s planned events, or celebrating at home, please make sure you safe.

It is important that people enjoy this period of the year while also taking responsibility for themselves and being considerate of others.

Some in our communities can feel anxious or intimidated at this time of year, especially with the nights getting darker earlier.

Over the last 18 months, it’s been incredible to see so many people going above and beyond in order to care for the most vulnerable in our communities – so please continue to look out for them.

A great deal of planning goes into Bonfire Night and the Halloween period as we and our partners work hand-in-hand to help keep you safe – and to ensure that any pockets of disorder that might occur are kept to a minimum.

If anyone does behave in an anti-social manner, they will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately.

We will not tolerate antisocial behaviour and have a number of tactics – and vast experience – in tackling this type of disorder.

Please continue to work with us to ensure this region remains a safe place to live and work.

Anybody who is concerned about anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhood is asked to report it to us by speaking to an officer on duty, via our website or by calling 101.

Stay safe, everyone!
