The continuing story of teenager Bethan
What’s on, what’s best and where to see it
This award-winning five-part series of In my Skin from writer Kayleigh Llewellyn continues to follow the story of Bethan (Gabrielle Creevy), a Welsh teenager leading a double life as she negotiates a mentally ill mother and an abusive father, friendships, and sexuality.
The second series finds Bethan embarking on her last year of school, entering an exciting new relationship and planning to fly the nest, all while still desperately trying to hide the reality of her home life. Her mother Trina (Jo Hartley) has been released from hospital and is doing well, working at the local bingo hall, and seemingly thriving there, despite life still being made difficult by Bethan’s abusive father, Dilwyn (Rhodri Meillir). As the story progresses, Bethan is faced with the question of sacrificing her own happiness for the sake of her mother.
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming up...
Episode one
With her mum Trina (Jo Hartley) released from hospital and now working with Nana (Di Botcher) at the local bingo hall, Bethan (Gabrielle Creevy) finds herself free to experience the joys of teenage life. At school Bethan is full of herself as she tries to make a good impression on new girl Cam (Rebekah Murrell) who she has a crush on. However, Bethan’s home life is far from perfect as she becomes ever more combative with her abusive father, Dilwyn (Rhodri Meillir).
Episode two
Bethan (Gabrielle Creevy) and her friends Lydia (Poppy Lee Friar), Travis (James Wilbraham) and the rest of their classmates go on an overnight visit to a local university. On her return home, Bethan meets the man Trina has been having an affair with, Perry (Steffan Rhodri). Despite her reservations, Bethan understands why her mum (Jo Hartley) believes they can both have a better future if she can find a way to be with
Perry.
