Silksworth CW manager Jamie Cole admitted things went “horribly wrong” during his side’s Alan Hood Charity Cup exit at Windscale.

Reece Blakey put Silksworth in front at Falcon Complex, but it was all downhill from that point onwards as their Wearside League First Division rivals took control of the game.

Reece Fretwell equalised for the Atoms and they took a two-goal lead into half-time as Lewis Jolly and Lawrie Black both found the net.

Matthew Frazer added a fourth goal with just under 20 minutes remaining and Sam Thompson rounded off a miserable day when he grabbed a fifth in the closing stages.

Cole said: “We took the lead and from that point on, things went horribly wrong for us. We were outworked and outplayed.

“We need a massive reaction against Coxhoe Athletic and I already think that game is a must-win one for us.”

Farringdon Detached suffered penalty shoot-out heartache in their Durham Trophy defeat at Darlington Town.

Jim Wilson put the hosts ahead with a penalty midway through the second-half, but Farringdon forced a shoot-out with a late spot-kick of their own from Connor Gales.
