Remembrance festival for Armed Forces and Emergency Services
Each year a Festival of Remembrance is held to commemorate forces personnel.
Every year the Royal British Legion hosts the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, a commemorative event dedicated to all those that have served and sacrificed from Britain and the Commonwealth.
To mark 100 years since the collective national Remembrance traditions came together for the first time, the Royal British Legion will be remembering the military and civilian, the old and young, and the British and Commonwealth men and women who have fought wars, disasters and pandemics to protect and defend Britain.
This year, organisers are working towards a fully realised Festival of Remembrance, which will be held on Saturday November 13, 2021 with performances at 2pm and 7pm.
Remembrance honours those who serve in the Armed Forces and unites
across faiths, cultures and backgrounds to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth.
During the festival, tribute is paid to the special contribution of families and of the emergency services.
And acknowledgement is given to innocent civilians who have lost their lives in conflict and acts of terrorism.
The Festival of Remembrance Evening usually ends with the traditional twominute silence and the falling of one million poppy petals, each one representing a life lost.
There will also be a Festioval of Remembrance at Durham Cathedral on November 13, 7pm to 10pm, and a Service of Remembrance on the same day 10.45am to 11.10am, at North Cemetery, Hartlepool.
