THORBEN HOFFMANN

Little he could do about the goal. One or two uncertain moments on the ball very early on but for the most part assured in possession and gathered crosses well enough. Made one fine late save and one good penalty stop. 6

KENTON RICHARDSON

Missed a good chance just before half time at the back post. Didn’t get forward a great deal otherwise but defended OK. 5

FREDERIK ALVES

Comfortable in possession and rarely beaten. 6

OLLIE YOUNGER

Steady enough in defence and generally looked after the ball well. 6

LYNDEN GOOCH

Started sluggishly in an unfamiliar role. Improved through the second half and did try to bring some positive intent. Missed a penalty in the shootout. 5

LUKE O’NIEN

Played one excellent pass to Dajaku late in the first half and helped defend the box well, but not particularly influential on open play. Took an excellent penalty. 5

HARRISON SOHNA

Beaten a little too easily by Staunton in the build up to the opening goal, but recovered well and played his part in the equaliser with some tenacious midfield play. Tidy in the main. 5

LEON DAJAKU

Had a couple of good opportunities but fired too close to Hornsby in the Bradford goal. Did look a threat around the byline but the end product wasn’t quite there. 5

ALEX PRITCHARD

Helped lift the tempo at the start of the second half and nearly scored a brilliant late free kick to secure the win, but not quite happening for him in possession for the most part. Did improve as it went on. 5

ELLIOT EMBLETON

Was at the heart of all of Sunderland’s good play, even if it doesn’t always come off. Produced an excellent assist for Broadhead’s equaliser. 6

NATHAN BROADHEAD

Showed some good intent in the first half with little sight of goal. Took his goal superbly, two touches that got his side level in a difficult spot. Another valuable run out. 7
