STORY:

What are your fondest childhood memories of Christmas in Sunderland.

Caroline Mitchinson Lawther: Shop window displays. Even when shops were closed, they didn't all have shutters. Christmas trees were left lit (probably til a certain time of night). Also the lights and Mobray park.

Margy James: Getting dressed as an angel and going to Royal Infirmary to sing carols to the people in there think I was about 7 in about 1964.

John Watson: Joplings Santa grotto.

Susan Askew: John Watson, My favourite memory too!

STORY:

Boris Johnson’s wife Carrie has given birth to her second child with the Prime Minister.

Diane Short: Now he has the perfect excuse for this year’s Christmas party .... Prime Minister please explain this year’s Christmas party whilst telling everyone else they won’t be allowed to have any kind party? It's quite simple Mr Speaker, it wasn’t a party, it was merely the celebration of my daughter’s birth, with my staff having one celebratory drink keeping agreed social distance measures. It merely consisted of wine and cheese!

Sylvia Sleith Simpson: Congratulations to you both on the birth of your daughter.

Lena Mcnamara: Congratulations Boris and Carrie, you are a wonderful man Boris, ignore all these who are gobby with their comments.

Wendy Bainbridge: So what do they want a Blue Peter badge, women give birth everyday they don't get an announcement. Shall we all have a party for them, ahh ah yes we should break the rules!

Tony Shepherd: Best throw a party then...…

Castor Graham: Congratulations Boris.

Danny Hunter: I have to say this he did say sorry for what happened but it’s up to the people, it’s their decision to trust him or believe him or not but congratulations to the both of them for their new born ....
