Sherlock Holmes Chapter One

Age rating: 16
In an engaging journey of exploration through Sherlock’s childhood past on the island of Cordona, you try to uncover the truth around his mother’s death. Along the way there’s a city to explore, mysteries to solve, and bandits to apprehend. Cases are diverse and immersive and solving them gives a great sense of achievement, despite some often-frustrating controls and game mechanics. 7/10
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
Nintendo Switch £49.99, Age rating: 7+
The latest classic Pokémon remakes bring something for classic fans and newbies alike. The familiar formula of travelling the world in search of new Pokémon, getting into battles and overthrowing kooky villains’ plans for world domination has stood the test of time for a reason. The oversimplified and occasionally jarring graphics add to the early discomfort but are thankfully outweighed by the quality of the battles. 6/10
Battlefield 2042
Xbox One/X/S, PlayStation 4/5, PC £49.99-£69.99
Age rating: 16+
Dice and EA have missed a major trick with this release. Instead of following up on the beautiful, cinematic stories of previous Battlefield games, 2042 features no campaign mode whatsoever. Instead, players are thrust into maps that take what feels like weeks to fully render, with no context and are subjected to basic run-and-gun-style gameplay with sub-par weapons. This has a general feel of missed opportunity. A missed opportunity. 4/10 1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
