Lib Dems call to remove Sunderland’s £25 replacement wheelie bin fee in certain circumstances. What do you think?

Ali Conlin: What about when they end up in the bin wagon but bin men say nothing, happened to us but a neighbour had seen it happen.

Tracy Shatray: Sick of mine being pinched and I’ve now painted on top do not steal! It’s easy to ID now.

Paul Fairley: Hopefully this is a step towards removing the brown bin fee as well!

Sharon Simpson: My bin got stolen by the bin cleaners and replaced by a one that has a dodgy lid that was hanging off.

Fred Bradwell: Our recycling basket has vanished twice in six weeks into the back of the bin wagon.

Joanne Hendry: I had to pay £25 for a new one after the storm blew it away and couldn't be found.

Joanne Gunn:

They should be replaced for free when they are damaged by bin men when emptying.

Margo Lax: The fee makes people look after their bins. However think if your bin is stolen you are allowed one replacement then pay after that.

Rachel Bell: Two of ours got nicked the night after the storm, we've paid the £50 and still not had our new bins delivered.

Smithy Wilkins: Seems reasonable, which is why it won't happen.

Kathy Haq: I agree they should remove it if the bin is damaged by the men collecting the rubbish, which I have seen happen at least twice on my street.

Philip Shaw: I had no blue bin from the first day I moved in why should I pay for it, not my fault.

Steve Stevenson: My bin was stolen day before bonfire night, we had the crime number from the police and council still made me pay for a replacement. They said they don’ t honour the old crime number routine anymore.
