Dave’s delight as Levi brace sees Boldon bounce back to beat Carlisle

-

Boldon CA manager David Crumbie was delighted with his side’s performance in their impressive 3-2 home win against Carlisle City.

Boldon recovered from falling behind to a Jordan Palmer goal as a brace from top scorer Levi Collins and a Dan Wright strike put them in control of the contest in Northern League Division Two.

City battled back and gave themselves some hope when Aaron Bradbury found the net deep in second-half injury-time.

However, Crumbie’s men held on to claim a valuable win and move within four points of the second tier play-off places.

After the game, Crumbie told The Echo: “We have been a little out-of-sorts over the last few weeks and have not shown what we can do.

“We spoke before the game about trying to play more instead of just turning it and credit to the club because our home pitch allowed us to do that on Saturday.

“We have to give credit to the squad too because we only had 13 players and our assistant manager had to go on the bench.

“We went a goal down after a lapse of concentration and a few little mistakes.

“Despite that, we didn’t feel in danger and we always felt in control for larger parts of the game.

“Levi Collins did what he does and got us two goals and then Dan Wright got our third.

“We switched off with the last kick of the game to allow them to get one back.

"But we are all still delighted with the performance and it’s three more points on the board.”

Elsewhere on Saturday, two goals in seven minutes from Jak Mitchell and Elliott Judson helped Chesterle-Street Town inflict a rare defeat on league leaders Heaton Stannington with a 2-1 win at Moor Park.

Heaton remain eight points clear of Ryton and Crawcrook Albion, with a game in hand.

Channon North got the only goal of the game as Jarrow saw off Billingham Synthonia at Perth Green, and Rhys McLeod’s hat-trick put Ryton on their way to a 7-1 demolition of bottom-ofthe-table Durham City.

Jack Butler struck a brace and Jos Veitch and James Coates grabbed a goal apiece as Newcastle University battled to a 4-2 win in their visit to Bedlington Terriers.
