Call on Henderson runner for Chase gains

-

High-class hurdler Call Me Lord is expected to get off the mark over fences in the Follow @AtTheRaces On Twitter Novices’ Chase at Hereford tomorrow.

Nicky Henderson’s charge has won four races over the smaller obstacles since arriving in Britain in 2017, including Grade Two triumphs at Sandown and Cheltenham.

Having come up short in smart company last season, Henderson has decided to switch disciplines with his charge this term and he made his fencing debut at Uttoxeter last month.

While ultimately wellbeaten in fourth place, Call Me Lord was carrying a big weight in a soft ground handicap and should strip fitter for the run. If he can run close to his hurdles mark of 144, he should prove very hard to beat.

Mr Washington can make his stamina count in the Sky Sports Racing 415 Handicap Hurdle.

Already proven over three and a quarter miles with a win at Warwick last winter, this similar trip will not inconvenience Tom Symonds’ stayer.

He has run creditably in two starts since returning from a nine-month break.

Successful on his comeback at Chepstow in November when he held Guillemot by a neck, Mr Washington was just held by Quick Draw at Uttoxeter on his latest outing.

He lost nothing in defeat and can make amends.

Jaytee ran a tremendous race on his second start following 650 days off the track and can be rewarded with victory in the Watch Off The Fence On attheraces.com Conditional Jockeys’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle.

The Ian Williams-trained gelding was outstayed by Glimpse Of Gala at Warwick after being left in the lead when Jet Plane came down at the final flight.

Being dropped a furlong and a half in trip can see Jaytee get off the mark at the eighth attempt.

The step up to a mile can see Homemade Andrea register a second career success in the Watch Racing Free Online At Coral Handicap at Lingfield.

Robert Eddery’s filly put in good late work to take fourth place behind Copper Mountain at Chelmsford over seven furlongs on her latest start after being tight for room over a furlong out.

Her only previous win came over that distance at Wolverhampton in September, but she now looks ready to go further.

Big Time Maybe can score for a third time over Lingfield’s five furlongs by taking the Betway Casino Handicap. The Michael Attwater-trained sprinter shaped with promise when fourth to I’m Mable at Chelmsford on his first start for 134 days. That effort will have put the Dandy Man gelding him spot on for this.
