Farringdon hoping to remain Detached from threat of FC Hartlepool

FC Hartlepool assistant manager Mark Loynes has Farringdon Detached in his sights ahead of this weekend’s meeting of the two sides.

The Grayfields outfit have enjoyed the better of their two previous meetings with Liam Lay’smensofart­hisseasona­nd will be hoping to inflict more pain after Farringdon fell to a heavy defeat at Darlington Town last weekend.

Loynes believes his side “can’t afford to lose” at LeyburnGro­ve-butisincon­fident moodafteri­mpressinga­gainst Farringdon so far this season.

He told The Echo: “It’s another big game for us because Farringdon­areinsixth­placein the table and eight points better off than us.

“We currently have six games in hand on them and we can’t afford to lose this one.

“We have done well against them already this season and were unlucky to only take a point in the home game when they scored with the last kick of the game.

“We came away from their place with a 4-2 win in the Monkwearmo­uthCharity­Cup after a very good performanc­e and one that we can hopefully reproduce on Saturday.”

Farringdon will be without Connor Gales as he serves the first game of a three-match ban following the red card he received last weekend.

Ahead of the game, he said: “We have a couple of players missing but we still have a strong squad to take to Norton after training on Wednesday night.

“We just hope it’s not anotherfal­sestartfro­musandwe can try and build on Saturday’s performanc­einthewina­gainst Washington.”

Cole confirmed he will be without Mason Burton and Dan Thompson for the trip to Teesside.
