Mark Collingwood praised his Seaham Red Star players following a professional display in their 2-0 win at Whitley Bay.

Adam Lennox fired Red Star ahead from the penalty spot on 15 minutes after he was brought down by a clumsy challenge from hosts keeper Dan Lister.

The lead was doubled six minutes before half-time as former Bay midfielder Mark Robinson crashed home a low drive from the edge of the area.

Collingwood’s men always looked in control during the second-half and were never really threatened by their hosts.

After the game, Collingwood praised his side and insisted the “fully deserved” to take all three Northern League Division One points from their visit to Hillheads.

He told The Echo: “We were worthy winners, I thought we were fantastic and were never really threatened.

“We hadn’t come here to play the conditions, we came to play football and were the better side throughout.

“That performance has been coming away from home and I don’t think anyone watching could deny we fully deserved to take all three points from the game.

Sunderland RCA also enjoyed a profitable Saturday as they earned a 2-0 home win against West Allotment Celtic.

Greg Swansbury and Michael Anang-Colquhoun scored a goal in each half as Steve Riley’s men claimed a third win in their last four games.

A late Jordan Rivis penalty

helped Redcar Athletic to a 1-1 home draw against Bishop Auckland after Marcus Giles had put the visitors ahead inside the opening minutes.

And a stunning individual effort from James Risbrough

earned a point for Guisborough Town after they had fallen behind to a first-minute Joe Smith goal at home to Crook Town.

Heaton Stannington extended their lead at the top of

Division Two to nine points as Liam McBryde scored in their 1-0 win at Carlisle City.

Gateshead Leam Rangers moved to within three points of the top of the Wearside League table with an impressive 3-1 win at second-placed Darlington Town. Man-ofthe-match Jonny Hirst led the way with a brace and Aidan Rutledge also netted at Eastbourne Sports Complex. Ellis Husband scored for the hosts.
