Sunderland bingo card printing giant Edward Thompson to close after more than 150 years.

Susan Leishman: Left school Friday started Monday as office junior. Helped open the shop in town with Melvin and the Hunters girls. Frank Cronin was an amazing boss really cared about his staff. We were paid more than other jobs of same level. Brilliant job and made some life long friends. So sad it comes to an end.

Adelle Fairclough: Gosh, the end of an era. My nana Margaret Scales worked here, she loved it.

Eddie Lilley:Started there when I was 16 in 1970. Was a fitter on tombola till 1978.Pplayed for the football teams and the squash team, great days.

Irene Johnson: End of an era, so sad.

Darren Murtha: Loved working here met some great people.

Lesley Mfon: Remember buying my typewriter ribbons in the Fawcett Street branch amongst other stationery for school and college. Sad.

Tony Martin: My dad was in charge of the stores and mam worked in the canteen. My brother worked the during university holidays and I worked there Saturday mornings and school holidays. Very sad to see it closing. Best of luck to everyone who has lost their jobs.

Karen Crute: Fantastic memories from working there 1996/2015 met some great people and friends.

Brian Swinney: Lorry driver there for 20 years best job I ever had.

Carol Templeton: First job I had was there back in 1978.

Edward Brannigan: Sad to see the end of Edward Thompsons, had 25 great years working there from 1981 till 2006.

Allan Anderson: So sad to hear it has come to an end Worked there for over 10 years and made great friends. Wonderful memories made there too, never forgotten.

Dave Miller: Sad to see but inevitable, I worked as a paper merchant for many years and always enjoyed visiting the site.
