Council tax bills set to rise in Sunderland, but free pest control scheme expected to stay.

Tracey Platt: What a joke! Tried to get a pest control appointment since Christmas! Would rather pay the £50 and at least they show up!

Jo Drummond: Why don’t people just move to the surrounding boroughs who are also putting their taxes up and are already higher than ours. No one wants to pay more but we have much lower costs than South Shields as our council kept the original banding whereas other councils reassessed them meaning people paid more.

Jeanette Alice: Why have we not have a refund of the payment included for the air show we pay every year??

Tracy Bainbridge: So Rishi says a £150 rebate in council tax, Sunderland Council say a rise in council tax, what’s the point they get it back anyway, what a waste of time.

Kathy Haq: Do you think that Sunak was actually going to give us anything like. He's paying the Energy Companies £200 per property on our behalf but we have to pay it as well.

Carol McCormick: Rather go to prison than pay more tax to this corrupt government.

Anne Lawson: Some contributors need to do a bit of research and at least try to understand what the council tax pays for. It’s not used for new buildings.

Steven Spoors: Could've saved £80 million not bothering with a new town hall. A simple office block would've sufficed.

Chris Moon: I'm sure they just rent it and don't own it I could be wrong though, but your right plenty of buildings they could transform.

Lynn Appleby: Except when you try to book the pest control they are too busy.

Jim Bogie: Social care element should be removed now that it's an extra addition to National Insurance, can't have it both ways!

Peter Richardson: Thought every one was getting a £150 rebate due to high fuel prices
