Pearson takes positives after Ryhope are beaten at league leaders

-

Ryhope CW joint-manager Gary Pearson was keen to take the positives from his side’s defeat against top-of-the-table Consett.

Ryhope reacted well to falling behind to a Dan Capewell goal in the opening stages, as Danni Lay netted to get his side back on level-terms.

But the early moments of the second-half swung the game in the hosts’ favour, as debutant Matt Ridley restored their lead and Luke Carr confirmed their Northern League Division One win inside the final 20 minutes.

Pearson told The Echo: “The first-half was very even, if anything we maybe shaded it with more chances and possession.

“I was happy going in level at half-time, but then another set-piece in the early-stages of the second-half has killed us.

“There were positives from the game and we were able to get the ball down and play it.

“The result doesn’t look great and our last three results don’t look great, but we have a break from the league this week when we play Spennymoor in midweek.”
