Silky boss annoyed by complacency despite win

-

Silksworth CW manager Jamie Cole believes his side showed some complacency despite their 3-1 home win against Darlington RA.

Dan Thompson put Silksworth ahead in the early stages of the Wearside League First Division game, but they were pegged back by an equaliser within minutes.

However, a stunning strike from youngster Adam Frame and a penalty from Harry Munday helped Silksworth remain in the hunt for a top-three spot.

Despite the result, Cole was not entirely satisfied with his side’s performance.

He said: “We were very lively at the start of the game and went a goal up, but then conceded a sloppy goal.

“Adam put us back in front and it seems the young lad only likes to score worldies.

“Darlo didn’t give up and our keeper made some really good saves to keep us in front.

“It was game over when Harry Munday got our third with a penalty, but I think a bit of complacency had set in because they turned up with the bare bones.”

Farringdon Detached fell to a 2-0 defeat at Wolviston as goals from Mikey McGee and Nathan Bayes left Liam Lay’s side empty-handed.

Chester-le-Street United remain top of the table after Jay Gibson got the only goal of the game in their visit to West Auckland Tunns.

Gateshead Leam Rangers lie six points behind United after Jonny Hirst hit a hattrick and Robbie Houghton also netted in their 4-1 home win against Windscale.

Ben Wood starred as he plundered his way to five goals in Darlington Town’s 7-1 hammering of Richmond Town.

A first-half goal from Joe Wilkinson and late strikes from Ryan Bolam and Dan Weaver helped in-form Durham Corinthians to a 3-0 home win against Shotton Colliery.

Bottom-of-the-table Coxhoe Athletic earned a shock 2-0 win at FC Hartlepool thanks to goals from Peter Brown and Peter Henderson.

Shildon Reserves extended Washington United’s poor run with a 1-0 win at Nissan Sports Complex and Andrew Burton, Josh Chambers, Rory Sawyer and James Webb all netted in Norton and Stockton Ancients’ 4-0 home win over Annfield Plain.
