Let’s get back to the way we like to play for derby test, says Dave

Boldon CA manager David Crumbie has issued a challenge to his players ahead of Saturday’s derby clash against Jarrow.

An impressive first season in the Northern League has continued as wins against Heaton Stannington and Brandon United took Crumbie’s side into the heart of the Northern League Division Two play-off battle.

But the Boldon boss has been left underwhelmed by the style in which his side claimed those wins and has urged his players to find an improvement against their local rivals at Perth Green.

He said: “It will be a difficult task for us to get a win because Jarrow have really come into form in recent weeks.

“We know the quality they have, and the problems they can cause us, so we need to be organised and ready to work hard.

“We have found ways of winning when not playing well of late, but I am hopeful we can get back to playing the way we like to play and getting a positive result in a big game.”

Crumbie confirmed he will be without Codie Howe but Charlie McLeod and Joao Gomes will be available once again.

Jarrow will assess their options in the aftermath of Thursday night’s Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup tie at Easington Colliery.

Sunderland West End have a strong squad available as they look to continue their own play-off push with a win at struggling Bedlington Terriers.

Steven Stewart’s men make the trip to Northumberland sat in third place in the table and know a win would lift them above Ryton and Crawcrook Albion.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Washington will also travel to South East Northumberland

as they take on Blyth Town, and Easington Colliery face a tough challenge as they entertain table-toppers Heaton Stannington.

Redcar Town are the visitors to Moor Park as they take on Chester-le-Street Town and in-form Newcastle University face Brandon United at Kimberley Park.

Esh Winning will be hoping to build on their impressive midweek win at Redcar when they head to Cumbria to take on Carlisle City.

The Division Two weekend gets underway on Friday night when Willington travel to Tow Law Town.
