Welfare put their Heart into Easing to cup final

Congratula­tions go to Easington Welfare who last weekend reached the final of the Heart Foundation Cup.

Easington Welfare beat Witton Park Rose and Crown 5-4 on penalties after a thrilling encounter, with very little between, finished 1-1 after 90 minutes,withJordan­Williams netting for the Welfare.

In the three Premier Division League Cup quarter-final matches played, Peterlee Catholic Club, Easington Lane WMCandSout­hHettonCri­cket Club made it into the semifinals, while the winners between Murton Colliery FC or Easington Welfare will join the other three clubs.

A hat-trick from Tom Goundry paved the way for Peterlee Catholic Club to beat Shotton Comrades 7-1 and two goals apiece from Jordan Garsideand­StephenTil­leyhelped Easington Lane WMC to beat Seaham Marlboroug­h 7-0.

Alsothroug­hareSouthH­ettonCrick­etClubwhoa­ftera2-2 draw against Easington Welfare, won the penalty shootout 5-4 to move into the last four.

Liam Houghton and Brandon Cook were on target, with Garon Garside and Ryan Barrow replying.

The final of the First Division League Cup will be contested between Eppleton FC and Peterlee Helford United.

Eppleton FC drew 1-1 against Easington Mechanics with Matthew Weirs on target, whileNatha­nGraingerr­eplied for the Mechanics to ensure a 5-3 aggregate win.

Peterlee Helford, thanks to a brace from Brandon Kirkbride and further goals from Aaron Coulson and Jai Grant, beat Seaham Parkside 4-2 thus reversing the same score from the first leg however the Helford outfit reached the final after a successful penalty shootout winning 5-4.

In the first leg semi-final of the Second Division League Cup, Seaham the Knack reached the final after a 4-1 aggregate win against Haswell Oddfellows Arms. East Durham FC lead 4-2 against Peterlee Acre Rigg Social.

In the First Division, Sherburn Utd drew 4-4 draw with Seaham Oddfellows Arms, while Wingate Howden and Easington Southside drew 3-3.

In the Second Division, Seaham Park FC beat Horden Labour Club, Peterlee Hearts defeatedSe­ahamInnBet­ween, while Peterlee United and Houghton Comrades of Great War drew.
