Concerns raised over plans to ‘decommission’ Nightingale Hospital in Sunderland.

Also we are getting ready to accept refugee's, Covid is still out there, what happens if the hospital's don't cope?

Debi Sanderson:

Keep it as a hospital for Sunderland north residents, take the pressure off the Royal hospital.

Glen Wheatley: I agree, although never had the staff to utilise it and still don't.

Lucy Walker: Could use it for refugee temporary housing.

Elaine Johnson: It was never used as a hospital, can’t just leave if empty "just in case", put it back to a factory to create jobs.

Bill Walton: Some councillors just talk for talking sake. It’s prime industrial space and should be used as that. It was fantastic when it was needed but mass vaccinations are not needed at the moment.

Kathy Haq: How do you know they won't be needed again. The number of cases are rising in the older people as the vaccination immunity reduces and this will no doubt continue. Hospital admissions are up by 23% already since Johnson removed all restrictions.

Mark Walker: Maybe have it as a temporary home for refugees.

Diana Lambton: Should be kept open as a convalescent centre to move patients into to free up beds in hospitals, then they can work on the backlog of patients. At the same time it could be used as a community carers training centre to train care home staff, auxiliaries and student nurses.

Christine Wilson: Should be used for COVID patients and free up beds for others waiting for operations.

Mark Gallagher: It's a good building there are many things it could be used for by the N.H.S.

Sandra Noble: Covid is on the rise again, it's a stupid idea.

Steve Downing: They should keep it open and use it as a hospital.
