Charity hopes beach wheelchair facility plans will help more people enjoy a day at the Sunderland seaside.

Christopher Trenholme:

I never realised how disabled unfriendly lots of people are and how the Councils spend more on the wants of the able bodied until I became a wheel chair user and disabled myself. Time there was more accessible places around the coast and countryside than there currently is.

Lord David Allen: The people aren't unfriendly it's the buildings, but I agree there isn't enough thought given to the access.

Lynn Elliott: What a great idea. Will bring more families to our local beach.

Kathy Stewart: It’s a disgrace there is no access for wheelchairs on the beach. This needs addressing as soon as possible.

Stuart Porthouse:

Excellent idea, certainly got my full support. I didn’t realise how difficult it was to use a wheelchair until an operation on my spine, thankfully only needed one for a short time.

Margy James: Can’t wait to try them haven’t been able to get to the water for years.

June Wintrip: Great idea hope it comes to fruition.

Jamil Khan: Better late than never, wheelchair user been living here 26 years time they helped us explore more of this beauty.

Lynne Dobson: Better late than never. Brilliant, hope it comes off.

Graham Breeze: Great it should have happened years ago. I love Seaburn and Roker, the only problem is the weather.

Dot Lynn: Finally, so good for the community.

Diana Lambton: As long as they provide a self propelling beach wheelchair too, not all wheelchair users need someone to push them.

Dave Armstrong: Great idea, I've heard about these before, a few years ago.

John Thompson: This is a great idea.
