Rival consoles - this week’s top games
Assetto Corsa Competizione PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S £34.99, PEGI 3
Hot on the heels of Gran Turismo 7 and GRID Legendsanother treat for racing fans following this title’s release on PC, then PS4 and Xbox One in 2019 and 2020. Now console gamers can experience the full power of the title for the first time, with 4K visuals and 60FPS performance as standard. Casual racing fans may feel Assetto Corsa isn’t the most accessible racing sim – and they would be correct to a degree – but hardcore racers willloveitsultra-realisticnature and almost endless customisation waiting under the bonnet. 8/10
What Lies In The Multiverse PlayStation 4/5 £11.99, PEGI 16
New to the Playstation, this puzzle platform er looks and sounds great. The parallel worlds mechanic leads to some interesting puzzles and some genuinely moving and funny moments – all while trying to keep up with charismatic central character Everett. The fun of flicking back and forth between universes (snow to sunshine, cheery forest to desolated landscape, happy diners to blood-stained corpses) does not get old at all. A few puzzles fall on the wrong side of annoying, but overall, it’s a great fun and lovelylooking romp. 8/10
Quest For Infamy
PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/X/S, Switch £7.99, PEGI 16
Harking back to the days of pointand-click, anti-hero Roehm must recover of a cursed jewel, with various tasks to complete along the way. It succeeds in bringing back the nostalgia of those early PC adventure games via pixelated graphics, turn-based combat, and an emphasis on exploration and puzzle solving. The lack of a quest log or map seems like a missed opportunity, while the control scheme isn’t the smoothest either – but thankfully it doesn’t hinder the experience too much. 6/10
Babylon’s Fall PlayStation 4/5, PC £59.99, PEGI 18
Travel back in time to a mythical land where monsters roamed the earth and sorcerers ruled. A new empire is attempting to rule the roost after the demise of the Babylonians, but you and others have to stop them from plundering the riches hidden among the ruins. The premise sounds good, but from the underwhelming watercolour-type graphics – that would not look out of place on a much older console – to plodding and repetitive battle scenes and storyline, which can be quite puzzling to fathom, this is a bit of a jumbled mess. 4/10
