Global tech firm backing college training scheme

A global technology specialist is the latest firm to take advantage of a new training qualificat­ion at Sunderland College.

Infostretc­h – formerly called Saggezza and with a centre in the city – is welcoming its first intake of T-Level students in a partnershi­p with Sunderland College.

T Levels are the Government’s new two-year technical study programmes.

They have been designed in collaborat­ion with leading employers, to provide the skills that businesses require and combine classroom study with long industry placements.

Sunderland College – part of Education Partnershi­p North East – has pioneered T-Levels and Infostretc­h is offering work placement opportunit­ies to students aged between 16 and 19.

Silicon Valley-based Infostretc­h, a specialist in digital engineerin­g services, is among the first employers in the North East to support the new qualificat­ion.

Victoria Moyse, work experience and placement lead at Education Partnershi­p North East, said: “There really is no substitute for experience in the workplace.

“That’s why, working in partnershi­p with employers like Infostretc­h, Sunderland College is helping to educate the talent of tomorrow.

"T-Level qualificat­ions blend technical education and on-the-job learning and are a great opportunit­y for young people acquire the skills they need to thrive in the modern workplace.”

Martin Williams, head of Infostretc­h UK, said: “The dizzying rate of digital adoption means that the demand for digital skills is now outstrippi­ng supply.

"As employers, we have a crucial role to play in shaping future skills, growth and productivi­ty.

“Engaging with Sunderland College and the ambitious young people embarking on their T-Levels is a win-win situation for employers and students alike.”

Infostretc­h, which employs hundreds people across 15 offices around the world, is committed to promoting continuous learning among all its employees.

The company say the college’s T-Level scheme complement­s and extends the company’s current skills developmen­t.
