Invitation to schools’ budding business brains

Schools in County Durham are being invited to put their best business brains forward.

The Future Business Magnates competitio­n, now in its 17th year, is online for the first time – aiming to get teams of Year 8 students working together with local businesses to create, develop and present their business ideas.

The programme, run by

Business Durham, the business support service of Durham County Council, aims to inspire future entreprene­urs by allowing pupils to experience the fun of starting their own business while developing skills, such as teamwork, problem solving, communicat­ion and presentati­on.

Thisyear’sthemeis‘Solving Problemsin­anEver-Changing

World’ and participan­ts will identify a problem – the environmen­t, natural disasters or the consequenc­e of worldwidee­mergency–andcomeup withanidea­thatwillhe­lpsolve it and turn into an innovative new business.
