Durham House in Washington set to close in December.

Adam Jefferson: When spending £40m plus on city hall, the rhetoric at the time, was that city hall would have all civil servants working under one roof. Now one of the three Sunderland labour MPs, is campaigning against that.

Michael Bell: Washington will be the place that was as there's no money spent in real terms and job losses, however the area is under Sunderland so they can keep city status, they are talking about moving the boundaries again so the best way forward is to move Washington back in to Durham.

Anne Ephinstone:

Why? It’s not exactly a million miles away. During the years I lived in Washington, I travelled to both Sunderland and Newcastle for my job, by bus. Not a problem!

Elaine Obee: I thought Washington was part of Sunderland. At least that’s who I pay my council tax to, for very little in return I might add.

Vicky Cullen: Don't they class Washington as part of Sunderland? Was only going to be a matter of time before they'd end up doing something like this once it had been mentioned.

Kaye Broadbent: Thought they were being re located to Sunderland? So no job losses.

Fred Hood: Moving from one part of Sunderland to another, a move that can only help the City Centre.

Wilf Newell: Why? It’s all Sunderland so I don’t see a problem.

Chris Parry: Someone’s got to fill the City Hall. No thought for the staff who will then have to pay car park charges.

Mark Gallagher: The building is absolutely ancient and dropping to bits, whatever they do it needs a major refurbishment.

Ian Hardie: The cost of upkeep on that building is rising, it needs demolishing. The same jobs will be moving, it's excess that is going as the DWP cut the telephone consultations. C ampaign against this loss, not a relocation within the same area.
