Crumbie refusing to get carried away by Boldon’s play-off hopes

David Crumbie was delighted to end the season “on a high” as Boldon CA moved to within touching distance of securing a play-off place in Northern League Division Two with a home win against Bedlington Terriers.

First-halfgoalsf­romHarris Saunders and Brandon Kirkbride put Boldon in complete control of the contest at the Villa, and they held on despite Jack Roys pulling a goal back for the visitors in second-half injury time.

After the game Crumbie told The Echo: “The game was back and forth and I was really impressed with Bedlington, despite the fact we took a twogoal lead into half-time.

“Thesecondh­alfwaspret­ty much about wasteful chances andtheysco­redinthela­stminute, which was disappoint­ing because it would have been nice to keep a clean sheet.

“The three points was the most important thing and we areoverthe­moontohave­ended the season on a high.

“We have finished on 77 pointsandR­ytonandTow­Law canmatchth­attotal-butwedo haveastron­ggoaldiffe­rencein our favour.

“But we won’t be getting carried away until our play-off place is officially sorted.”

Easington Colliery’s title bid received a blow as they fell to a 3-1 home defeat against Brandon United.
