Crumbie refusing to get carried away by Boldon’s play-off hopes
David Crumbie was delighted to end the season “on a high” as Boldon CA moved to within touching distance of securing a play-off place in Northern League Division Two with a home win against Bedlington Terriers.
First-halfgoalsfromHarris Saunders and Brandon Kirkbride put Boldon in complete control of the contest at the Villa, and they held on despite Jack Roys pulling a goal back for the visitors in second-half injury time.
After the game Crumbie told The Echo: “The game was back and forth and I was really impressed with Bedlington, despite the fact we took a twogoal lead into half-time.
“Thesecondhalfwaspretty much about wasteful chances andtheyscoredinthelastminute, which was disappointing because it would have been nice to keep a clean sheet.
“The three points was the most important thing and we areoverthemoontohaveended the season on a high.
“We have finished on 77 pointsandRytonandTowLaw canmatchthattotal-butwedo haveastronggoaldifferencein our favour.
“But we won’t be getting carried away until our play-off place is officially sorted.”
Easington Colliery’s title bid received a blow as they fell to a 3-1 home defeat against Brandon United.
