University celebrates 10 years of a 'capital' project
Sunderland University chiefs are celebrating the success of a ‘capital’ project.
The university opened its London campus 10 years ago as part if its strategic growth plans–andhaswelcomedover 15,000 students through the doors in that time.
Delivering a range of business, tourism, and healthrelated programmes, the campus’s reputation has continued to grow in Europe’s most important financial centre.
A month-long celebration to mark the decade comes to a close this week with a reception in Canary Wharf where academics and professional support staff will be joined by representatives from the student body, alumni, and colleagues from the Sunderland campuses.
Sir David Bell, vice-chancellor and chief executive of the University of Sunderland, said: "The 10th anniversary of the University of Sunderland in London is an auspicious moment. It speaks to the immensededicationofbothstaff and students as we have seen our work in London go from strength to strength over the past decade.

Having a successful physical presence in such an economically important area has played a key role in raising the profile of the university.
Thelocationofthecampus at Canary Wharf has been key in opening a range of new opportunities, attracting studentsfromover100countries.
The anniversary celebrations come in the same year Sunderland marks 30 years of receiving university status.
