-

Eppleton FC, who are enjoying a great season in the SSK Recruitment Peterlee & District Sunday League, won their second trophy of the campaign when in a hardfought Cyril Dunn Memorial Cup final they beat Easington Mechanics 2-1.

Thomas Bott gave the Mechanics the lead netting a penalty but just before the interval.

Eppleton FC – who are also in the final of the Tommy Burrell Memorial Cup – equalised through Niall Kemp.

The second half was an even affair, but in the 75th minute Logan Halliman got the all-important winner.

The final of the John & Pat McManus Memorial Cup this year will see Easington Welfare, from the Premier League, take on mid-table Dawdon Welfare Park.

Easington Welfare hammered Easington CIU 7-1 in their semi-final, with two goals apiece from Jack Maskell and Haydon Pace.

Dawdon caused an upset when they beat Premier Division leaders Easington Colliery Welfare 2-0, both goals coming from Kyle Bell.

In the Premier League, Peterlee Catholic Club kept their title hopes alive with a 6-2 win against South Hetton

Cricket Club, thanks to a hat-trick from man-of-thematch Jack Pounder.

Dennis Tapping and Ethan Ord scored as Easington Colliery Welfare were held to a 2-2 draw against Easington Lane WMC, for whom Tom Scothern and Ryan Taylor were on target.

In the First Division, Roseberry Park now hold the upper hand in the title race after beating Sherburn United

8-1 with a hat-trick from Dale Harker and a brace from Danny Lloyd.

A goal from Niall Kemp was not enough for Eppleton FC as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Peterlee Helford United, who replied through Tom Gilling.

In Division Two, goals from Mason Beckett, Philip Quinn, Layton Ramsey and Anthony Rooks saw Haswell Oddfellows Arms stay on course for promotion after hammering Horden Labour Club 4-0.
