‘Classy’ Colliers Stan in the way of Heaton clinching a promotion
Easington Colliery have been described as “a class act” as they look to secure a play-off place this weekend.
Northern League Division Two leaders Heaton Stannington will arrive at the Welfare Ground looking to secure the the three points they need to secure the league title.
But the title favourites will travel with the words of warning from chairman James Colwill ringing in their ears.
He told The Echo: “Easington are a class act.
“It’s a big game and it’s a tough game without a shadow of a doubt.
“They are a really good side and we know what they can do.
“They showed us what they can do at our place and we know they are going to provide a tough test on Saturday.”
Easington will hope to avenge the 3-2 defeat they suffered at the hands of the Stan last month.
Carlisle City are the major threat to the Stan’s chances of securing the title and they will round off their season with a home game Ryton and Crawcrook Albion.
The visitors travel to Cumbria needing a win to confirm their place in the top five and set up a play-off challenge.
Durham City’s nightmare season will finally come to an end when they host Washington at Hall Lane.
The Citizens have lost all but two of their 39 games throughout the season and will get their final chance to rack up a first maximum against the Mechanics.
Bedlington Terriers
round off their season with a visit to Tow Law Town and Esh Winning finish off with a home game against Chester-le-Street Town.
Consett will hope to join Division One champions
North Shields in next season’s Northern Premier League East Division this weekend.
The Steelmen ended the regular season in second place after leading the table
for the vast majority of the season.
However, their title bid faltered and that has forced them into an inter-league play-off visit to Northern Premier League Division
One Midlands club Histon.
The Cambridgeshire outfit finished the season third from bottom in step four and will now face Consett in a bid to remain at Northern Premier League level.
