Level-headed

-

If you can keep a level head while all around you seems to get a little crazier each day, If you can block the maddening hubbub that surrounds you while skirting deftly round the roadblocks in your way,

If you can keep yourself as healthy as you're able thus justifying the glorious force that placed you here,

And wake up gladly with each dawning day still stable, while giving thanks and shouting loudly “I'm still here”.

If you can tolerate the pain and grief and conflict and all

the daily myriad hassles that abound,

You'll know the reason for this very primal edict is that you'll miss them when you're six feet underground,

If you can understand the common laws of nature, you'll know that after darkness always comes the light,

And with some careful forward thinking legislature, a frightening future can most certainly be bright.

If you find yourself concerned about our planet, and wonder what your earthly legacy will be? Well, there are no more satisfying projects than to simply find a place to plant a tree,

If you can dare to dream but not make dreams your hobby, and simply use them to accelerate your worth,

Just heed the chattering green-eyed gremlins in the lobby, hellbent, on wrenching you back to earth.

If you can meet a friend for tea and hugs and laughter well, that's a tonic that'll brighten your day,

Sufficient memories that last for ever, can drive our aches and pains and maladies away,

If you are mindful of your life being no recital and that our time speeds by on warpspeed-fuelled wings,

Thus knowing well that every second here is vital, you’ll find the time to savour simple little things.

So if by now your hashtag simply reads “survivor” and all can identify with you, You'll be a fully paid up member of the cosmos, and you'll have earned the rank of superhuman, too.
