Lyons lose their top-of-the-table clash against Gosforth outfit

Hetton Lyons lost their top-ofthe-table clash against South Northasthe­DukesECBNo­rth East Premier League season reached the halfway stage.

The Lyons had Ben Mckinney in good form as he made 60 and Rahatul Javed 35, but then they were reduced to 191 all out, as Ollie McGee took 3-59.

The current champions then had Solomon Bell making 39 and Tshepang Dithole scored 51, as did skipper Adam Cragg, to win the game on 193-5.

That result left the Lyons six points behind South North, with Newcastle in third place 22 points behind Hetton.

Burnmoor scored 2029 at Sunderland, with Ryan Pringle making an outstandin­g 124 from 110 balls, which included 11 fours and five sixes, after they were struggling on 81-5.

Josh Coughlin added a useful 30 and Micky Allan claimed 4-6 with the ball.

The Ashbrooke outfit then collapsed to 47-7, as Waqas Maqsood (4-29) and

Pringle (5- 28) opened them up, and they were eventually all out for just 79 runs, despite Will Bosisto resisting with 38 not out.

Whitburn had a good win at home to Burnopfiel­d, as the visitors decided to bat first, totalling 201 all out.

Jonathan Pears made a useful 71 and Matthew Oswell 33, while Mason Bell and Adam May shared six wickets between them.

The home side then struggled against Mitchell Killeen (3-65) early on, but Lee Henderson made an excellent 82 not out and Gary Welsh 36 to steer their team to victory on 204-5.

Eppleton won again, this time at home to Tynemouth, who scored 206-8 thanks to an opening stand of 87 runs between Ben Debnam (42) and Ben McGee (61), while Andrew Ebdale took 4-45 and Taj Wali 3-55.

The home side then lost early wickets, but Sam Dinning made 47 and Connor Whitelock 48 as they put on 70 runs for the fourth wicket, and Dean Musther then scored 48 not out to see his team to victory on 210-7.

Chester-le-Street journeyed to Benwell Hill and the home side batted well, thanks to Angus Guy who made 57, Finn McCreath 47 and Haydon Mustard 37, as they totalled 250-9, while Ameen Ul Haq claimed 3-52.

The Cestrians then struggled from the off and were in trouble at 16-3.

Skipper John Coxon then made 46, Liam Simpson 34 and Matthew Cranston 36, as they finished on 188-7.

Felling made 195-8 at home to Newcastle, with late runs from Sebastian Allison, who hit 41, and Alan Mustard scored 47, as Issac Unsworth and Will Taylor shared six wickets between them.

The visitors then slumped to 20-5, as Sebastian Allison (5-49) ripped up the top order batting.

However, Joe Anderson made 65 and Jacques Du Toit 72, as they put on 104 runs for the fifth wicket, but Elliot Fox with 3-68 turned the game and they were all out for 182, just 13 runs short.

In Division One, Castle Eden remain top after an easy 10-wicket win at Blaydon.

Jonathan Malkin with an incredible spell of 7-3 from eight overs did the damage, reducing the home side to 60 all out.

He then hit 34 not out for the victory on 63-0.

Sacriston are up to third, as they won at Lanchester with the home side totalling 182-9.

Graham Brinton hit 66 and Pasindu Madushan 30, while Christophe­r Rushworth claimed 3-32.

Daniel Stephenson led the run-chase with 58 and victory came on 183-7, despite Kieron Taylor taking 4-64.

Philadelph­ia surprising­ly lost at Crook, as they batted and made just 169 all out.

Thomas Raine got them off to a good start with 60, but Andrew Burgess kept the score down with 4-20.

In reply, the home side made 173-7, as Patrick Gouge made a useful 58 and Aaradhya Tiwari 41 to steer their side to victory.

Seaham Park entertaine­d Washington and they made an excellent 276-6, with Umar Aktar 60, Dale Shaw 70, Morgan Hopkins 47 and Tom Nicholson 55 not out.

In reply, Thomas Colledge hit 52, Tom Sproates 44 and James Thompson 35, but it was not enough and they finished on 187 all out.

Shaw claimed an excellent 5-40.

Willington drew at Gateshead Fell as they totalled

273-7.

Scott Steel with an excellent 117, Jamie Dass 40, Jack Howell 63 and Steven Alderson 30 made the runs.

Shaun Smith then scored 34 and Ramanpreet Singh 47 to claim the draw on 163-8, despite Dass and Alderson sharing six wickets between them.

Shotley Bridge lost at second-placed Ashington by five wickets.

Batting first they made 184 all out, thanks to Jack Rowley who hit 34 with Cameron Nichols claiming 4-47.

The home side then made the required runs, with 62 from Younas Ahmadzai and 30 from Ben Harmison, finishing on 185-5.

In the Readers Durham & North East Cricket League Division One, the big game at the top saw Brandon win after batting first at home to Durham City.

Matthew Brown (76) and Chris Peareth (55) got them off to a great start with an opening partnershi­p of 108, then Gordon Muchall added 86 not out in a final total of 245-6.

City then struggled but Bryan Potts made 45, only for Chris Stewart and Jordan Grosert to take three

wickets each and they end up on 141-8.

Hylton decided to bat first at home to Seaham Harbour.

Gary Braithwait­e (43) and Shantanu Mishra (54) gave them a good start.

Matty Billyard added 33 in a final total of 172 all out, while Harry Morgan took 3-21 and Paras Dogra an impressive 5-10.

Seaham then had Dogra to thank for his batting, as he made 78 not out alongside Dane Wilson 35, to steer their team to the win on 174-6.

Littletown made 251 all out at home to Dawdon Welfare with Matthew Dench scoring 45 and a brilliant 101 not from James Sneller, from 85 balls, which included 12 sixes and five fours.

Haider Zaman was the pick of the bowling with 3-26.

Dawdon then slumped to 111 all out, with only Murtaza Javed resisting with 44, as Zaheer Shahbaz (446) and Paul Cassell (3-22) cleaned them up.

Boldon were asked to bat first at Ryhope and had Chris Allan to thank, as he made 74 in a total of 182 all out, with Sagar Udeshi claiming 3-16.

The home side then were all out for 126, although David Craig hit 47, as Quinton Boatswain claimed an impressive 5-24.

South Shields made 2159 at home to Marsden, with Ben Scott top scoring with 60 and Tharusha Fernando added 30, while James Hutchinson added 31 not out late on.

Mark Symington with 3-32 was the pick of the bowling.

The visitors then crashed and were all out for just 77, due to James Hutchinson taking 4-13 and Fernando

3-16.

Esh Winning had no game this weekend.

In Division Two, Mainsforth maintained their 100 per cent unbeaten run as they had Murton all out for 108, thanks to Kieren Latcham who took 3-30, and then Ryan Dawson and John Cavanagh claimed three wickets apiece late on.

The home side then struggled to 27-3, as James Watson (3-23) struck early blows, but Ryan Dawson with 30 not out and Aidan Cummings with 35 not out steered them to victory on 109-4.

Langley Park & Bearpark struggled to 159-8 at Hunwick, with Jake Thompson top scoring with 34, as Nick Dalton claimed 4-27 with the ball.

The home side then were all out for 136, as Jason Winn claimed 3-21 and James Coxon 4-34 bowled superbly.

Evenwood struggled to 122 all out at Tudhoe, thanks to 3-37 from Stephen Brown and 4-19 from James Curry.

However, the visitors lost early wickets but Joshua James with 51 not out saw them home for the win on 125-5.
