Dental plans for Newcastle and Sunderland: affordable care to make you smile again

Keeping your teeth and gums healthy can be a costly business, even with NHS providers. A dental plan from City Dental here in the North East could be the affordable option, for less than the cost of a takeaway meal.

According to Which?, basic dental visits can cost anything from £28 to several hundred pounds, depending on the work that needs done.

There’s a real fear that costs, as well as appointment availability, could lead to people neglecting their dental health, and not just the more costly treatment, but routine checkups to help alleviate the chance of problems developing.

City Dental in the North East, which has clinics in Newcastle and Sunderland, not only has a range of affordable dental plans for all preventative work, but usually has appointments available within the week.

What’s included in a City Dental plan?

There are plenty of benefits – all your preventative work throughout the year is included, like routine check-ups. There’s no health screening beforehand, you simply sign up and pay a set monthly fee.

Being a member gets you priority appointments, and with the same dentist where possible. And if any ongoing treatment is identified, Dental Plan members are given a discount on treatment costs, fully laid out and costed in advance.

How much does a City Dental Plan cost?

There are two plans available. The Dentacare maintenance plan costs £16.95 per month and includes two check-ups a year, including an oral cancer screening. The price also includes two hygienist checkups, including a scale and polish. Small x-rays are also included in the price.

There’s ten per cent off the regular cost of ongoing treatments, with a few exceptions – see the website for full details.

And it’s a plan for all the family too. Up to two children under the age of 16 will enjoy free check-ups with their parent’s or guardian’s plan, with discounts on any necessary treatment.

The denture plan costs £9.95 a month and is suitable for anyone with seven teeth or less. Two check-ups a year are included, including hygienist work and oral cancer screening. There are two denture screenings a year and free denture repairs for life on any denture made by City Denture. There’s a 10% discount on any new work or new dentures. See the website for full details.

Colin Caster, managing director at City Dental, said: “We are very proud of our plan, which is not only there to ensure routine dental appointments are not missed, but that affordable care is available when people need treatment. There is also coverage included in the plan for accidents, so we really feel it offers all-round coverage at a price our customers will be happy with.”

City Dental is owned by dental technicians who run the clinical dental laborator, but who also employ dentists, hygienists and nurses, meaning all dental services can be provided under one roof.

The laboratory is the largest independent lab in the North East, and the first to achieve the sought-after ISO quality standard registration.

Colin added: “We generally have appointments free within a week and can sign-post clients to the right expert to help them. Our on-site denture and implant service makes the process that much faster too.”
