Bridge can’t stop the Field winning battle of the Burns

In the Dukes ECB North East Premier League, Whitburn opted to bat first when they played hosts to Chester-leStreet.

Lee Henderson hit 42 not out, but with little support from his teammates, they were all out for 117 in 41.4 overs, John Harrison (3-30), Quentin Hughes (3-24) and Hedley Windows (3-8) doing the damage.

Chester-le-Street made short work of their task, reaching 118-1 in 23.2 overs through John Coxon (59no), Jacob McCann (33) and Ross Whitfield jnr (26no) to claim a nine-wicket victory.

Burnmoor put themselves in to bat when they welcomed Burnopfiel­d.

They reached 184-9 declared in 46 overs, Karl Turner getting them off to a great start with an excellent century, while Matthew Oswell took 4-48 and Finlay McGurk 5-35.

Burnopfiel­d then batted well, as David Seymour (75) led their response, with John Oswell adding 61no in their winning total of 185-5, despite Graeme Bridge taking 3-35.

Hetton Lyons were put in to bat and posted a total of 159-9, including 33 each from Ben McKinney and Stuart Walker.

Cameron Nichols took 4-31. Travelling Ashington took 34.2 overs to reach 1605, giving them a five-wicket victory. Mitchell Killeen hit 36 and Ben Harmison 49 not out.

Felling were asked to bat first and Travis Norris opened with 98, ably assisted by Elliot Fox (35), in their 2289 declared. Alan Unsworth topped the bowling figures with 3-59. Visitors Castle Eden struggled in response and ended on 132 all out after 49.2 overs, as Sebastian Allison took 4-29.

In Division One, Sunderland remain top, despite going down at local rivals Washington. The home side had Ludo Williams to thank for his 37 runs and Thomas Colledge hit 32 to get them up to 144 all out. The Ashbrooke team only made 137 all out in reply, as Mark Wat

son and Niall Cutter shared eight wickets between them.

In a low scoring game at Seaham Park, visiting Philadelph­ia made just 114 all out as Colin Archibald took 5-32 and John Sample 3-12. The home side then had Sample to thank with the bat, as he made a crucial 27 not out to get his side over the line on 115-9, despite three wickets each for Mani Murasingh, Luke Robinson and Adam McGuire.

In a high-scoring game at Eppleton, the hosts went down by just 14 runs. Visiting Lanchester totalled 2509 thanks to Graham Brinton (79) and Luke McCabe 49, and despite an excellent 6-64 from Andrew Ebdale. The home side then batted well, with Dean Musther leading the charge with an excellent 107, but they fell short as Kieron Taylor, Pasindu Madushan and Josh Renton shared all 10 wickets.

In the Readers Durham & North East Cricket League, visiting South Shields asked Boldon to bat first and the

home side posted a target of 208-9 in 45 overs. Chris Ellison top scored with 38. Tharusha Fernando (3-28) and Eliott Campbell (3-41) were best with the ball. After 41.1 overs, South Shields were all out for 183, falling 25 runs short and handing the victory to their hosts. Luke Elliott hit 57 and James Hutchinson 49. Colin Mann took 4-37.

Brandon, on their travels to Ryhope, won the toss and opted to bat first. They were 157 all out after 44.4 overs, Gordon Muchall hitting 33 and Callum Appleby 43 not out, while David Craig took 3-22.

Ryhope hit their target to remain league leaders with 158-4, Jayden Mitchell leading the charge with a fine 63.

Seaham Harbour put visitors Mainsforth in to bat first and they were all out for 180. Kieren Latcham opened with 49 and Zachary Riley added 37, but it was not enough as Seaham Harbour took the points with a total of 181-2 after 32.1 overs. Steven Gale was their main man with a brilliant 107 not out in 108 balls, including 16 fours, and Paras Dogra added 67.

Hylton entertaine­d Esh Winning and in a high-scoring game, the home side totalled 202 all out. The visitors batted well and made the required runs on 203-5.

In Division Two, Tudhoe head the league after a well-earned win at Boldon CA. Karl Bellerby made an impressive 94 runs for the home side in their total of 163 all out, as Danny Hardaker took a brilliant 7-22. In reply, opener Jack Sweeney led the way with 85 runs, as they claimed victory on 164-6.

Durham City (2nds) made 177-9 against Beamish and East Stanley thanks to Rory Gibbons, who scored 70 in their total, Peter Swift contributi­ng 48, as Finlay Bridge claimed 4-20. Beamish were then just 14 runs short of victory on 163 all out, with Lee Kirtley making 50 and Dan Brown 52, despite Paul Moralee claiming 5-49.

Horden were five-wicket winners at home to Hunwick. The visitors made 156 all out, with Ben Thrower top-scoring on 31, Adam Dixon and Dale Laverick sharing eight wickets. The home side then had Dixon to thank with the bat, as he fired 77 runs alongside Gavin Peat (32) and Paul Dixon (32 not out) to get them home on 157-5.

Langley Park & Bearpark won by two wickets at home to Marsden. The visitors made 149-7 thanks to skipper Owen Pederson making 88 not out, as James Thompson claimed 4-30, and then the home side had James Coxon (38) and Robin Hiles (30) guide them to victory on 150-8.

Ushaw Moor beat visiting Peterlee by four wickets, in a low-scoring game. The visitors made 114 all out thanks to Michael Thorpe claiming 3-20 and then Shahid Khan scored 35 not out from 96 balls to secure the win on 115-6, despite Joseph Spalding taking 3-25.

Dawdon Welfare have no game this weekend.
