More comments on deer being spotted at Hylton Castle. Sunderland is home to all manner of wildlife.

Dave Pritchard:

Let’s hope everyone leaves them alone.

Peter Wilson: Not now unfortunately. The estates hunting fraternity, along with their hounds, are always on the lookout for quarry, wherever they may roam.

Craig Rodgers:

I was standing four feet away from it kicking its legs and antlers down. Got videos and pictures of it. I had to pick my dog up. It was up behind Bunny Hill bank and apparently has attacked a few people. It kept following me.

Nicola Urwi: He's not friendly he attacked me and my dog for ten minutes. Dog needed antibiotics, I don't want any harm to come to him though. Not his fault he's not in the best area.

Susan Hill: I really think the RSPCA should get them taken somewhere safe.

Thomas George: I totally agree, they will take away the carcasses when the locals are done, it's awful I know, but it's just the world we live in.

Ronnie Dale: I saw one near there a while ago, they need to be left alone.

John Watson: One knocked my brother off his bike.

Matthew Hones:

All the poachers will be descending down there now. Already seen them trying to hunt rabbits in there with dogs.

Sandra Knowles:

Police were out a few weeks ago where other deer have been spotted because it was all over Facebook and someone came up with a gun. Luckily they caught him.

Susan Edgar: They used to be some around herrington but their habitat was taken from them and one was killed because it got behind the fences. If this council truly believed in providing space for wildlife to flourish then they should stop selling the green belt to the highest bidder and start saying no to every builder that wanted to build more overpriced houses.

Adam Jame: They are wild animals too and not very friendly.
