Grab a Space Hopper and do some good for the children!

-

The NSPCC, which provides the Childline service, has been working to prevent child abuse and neglect for over 130 years, delivering services, campaigns and vital safeguarding education in the North East and across the UK.

Childline gives young people a safe, confidential place to share their concerns about whatever’s worrying them. We estimate that seven children in a classroom experience abuse before they turn 18. We are here to support children around the clock, but we rely on the support from communities, schools and businesses across the country for 90% of our funding. That’s why the NSPCC’s Childhood Day is so important. Next Friday (June 9), people across the UK will channel their inner child and help raise vital funds so we can continue to keep children safe.

This year, we have launched a new, fun way to fundraise - the Childhood Day Mile. You can walk it, wheel it or space hopper it, and all funds raised will help us help children and young people.

Whether you ‘move a mile’ with your team, friends or family in a three-legged walk, dress up as your childhood hero, or plan your own Childhood Day Mile route around local landmarks, your support would be very welcome.

Alternatively, some fundraisers enjoy setting up friendly fundraising tournaments of childhood favourite games, from having a kickabout to digging out your old console and having a multiplayer battle, there are so many ways to play. We’d also love to hear about schools and nurseries across the North East taking part, maybe with playground parades, dances in the dinner hall or an exercise session between classes. There’s still time to decide how you would like to join in, and we will send you a free welcome pack with all you need to get involved - including a Childhood Day Mile spinner which you could use on the day as a fun way to choose how to move your mile.
