Worthy effort can’t spare Burnmoor from Toon loss

In the Dukes ECB North East Premier League, Newcastle put visitors Burnmoor in to bat first.

Ross Green well hit 54, ably supported by Allan Worthy (79no), but they were all out for 187 in 54 overs. Ronan Hogarth took 3-23 and Jacques Du Toit 5-32.

Newcastle’s Bobby Green (44), Ben Robinson (48), Mohsin Mukhtar (38) and Du Toit (30no) ensured they were victorious, reaching 191-6 in 51.4 overs to win by four wickets. Ryan Pringle took 3-46. Burnopfiel­d put visitors H et ton Lyons into bat and they got off to a great start with 55 from Ben McKinney and 39 from Jarvis Clay, but with no other batsman making double figures, they were all out for 128 in 32.1 overs. Matthew Oswell (3-45), Daniel Hogg (424) and Finlay McGurk (3-31) took the wickets.

Burnopfiel­d’s Callum Brown opened with 41 and they slowly racked up the runs to overcome their visitors, with a final total of 130-5 from 37.2 overs.

Castle Eden won the toss and took first knock, Keith Bailey (33), Connor Crute (30), Nick Sampson-Barnes (61) and Phil Wimpenny (30) helping their side to a total of 236-9 declared after 51.4 overs.

Mason Bell, Jonathan Shakespear­e, Matthew Muchall and Rafay Khan took two wickets apiece.

Whitburn struggled in response and were all out for 104 after 38 overs. Bilawal Iqbal (7-18 in 11 overs, including six maidens) and Jonathan Malkin (3-23) made it difficult for the visitors to get the runs needed.

Chester-le-Street put themselves up first, John Cox on getting them off to a great start with 64, Andrew Smith adding 58, Quentin Hughes then hitting an excellent 100 not out from 87 balls (including 17 fours) and Liam Simpson 35no in their total of 283-6 declared in 54 overs. Evasio Macmillan took 4-65.

Benwell Hill started their reply slowly, losing in quick succession, before the brilliant partnershi­p of Kyle Coetzer (122 no) and Peter Hall i day (113 no) put on 252 unbroken runs, helping them to a winning total of 289-4 in 53.1 overs, with Stanley McAlindon taking 4-59.

Felling travelled to South Northumber­land and decided to field first. South North started well with 40 from Rob Peyton. Christophe­r Hew is on (38), Adam Cragg (49no) and Sean Tindale (30 off 32 balls in 35 minutes, including one four and one six) helped them to build a total of 210-5 declared in 55 overs.

Felling’s Andrew Whaits then hit 48 and Oliver Met calfe 44, but they were all out for 185 after 52.4 overs, giving South North a 25-run win. Sean Tindale took 4-35 and Oliver McGee 4-28.

In Division One, Sunderland got off to a slow start at home to Seaham Park, but then Mickey Allen scored 35, William Bosisto 44, Chris Yould on 44 not out and Robert Potts 38 not out to steer them to 194-5 declared.

Seaham then lost early wickets, but 38 from Dale Shaw and 51 from Tom Nicholson steadied the ship, however, they wereeventu­ally bowled out for 153, thanks to Kie ran Water son, George Dr is sell and Joseph Stuart, taking three wickets each.

Philadelph­ia made 194-8 in their innings at home to E pp let on, thanks to 34 from Thomas Raine, 57 from Riley Blunt and 56 not out from Shaun Hauxwell. In reply, Henry Warren made a useful 66 not out, but they fell short on 169 all out, thanks to Ma ni Mu ra sing hand Joe Defty sharing six wickets.

Sacriston had a comfortabl­e eight-wicket win at home to Washington. The visitors made just 125 all out, with Jack Keall and Andrew Nicholson sharing seven wickets, with the only resistance coming from Joe Thompson (39). Nathan Hall then hit 61 for the home side and Solomon Bell 42 not out, for a final total of 126-2.

In the Readers Durham & North East Cricket League, Hylton travelled to Brandon and decided togo first with the bat, but were all out for 183 after 39.2 overs. Matty Billyard opened with 36 and Lee Jackson added 84 from 83 balls( including 16 four sand two six es ).

Brandon’ s Gordon Much all (81no) and Callum Appleby (38no) helped them to a winning score of 186-2 in 26.4 overs.

Boldon put their visitors Seaham Harbour in to bat first. Despite Paras Dogra hitting 88, he had little support and they were all out for 152 after 36.2 overs. Colin Mann (4-28) and Quinton Boatswain (3-27) took the wickets. Bold on then collapsed to 144 all out, as Dale Marshall claimed an impressive 4-19.

Visitors Esh Winning opted to bat first when they travelled to South Shields. Stuart Hall (48 from 53 balls, including eight fours) and John Carmedy (67) had a great opening partnershi­p, backed up by 36 from Haider Zaman, giving them a total of 226-7 after 45 overs, while Th a rush a Fernando took 3-31.

South Shields were then bowled out for a total of 159, as Haider Zaman claimed 3-13, despite James Hutchinson scoring 48 for his team.

In Division Two, Beamish and East Stanley made 233 all out at home to Dawdon, thanks to Lee Kirtley making 88 and Glen Shaw 49, while Murtaza Javed claimed 4-14 with the ball. The visitors were then skittled for just 114 runs, thanks to Dan Brown and Glen Craig sharing six wickets between them.

Peterlee beat Boldon CA at the Helford Oval by 77 runs. Batting first, they racked up 242 all out thanks to 40 runs from Ivan Kriek, 64 from Jack Spalding and Kieron Buck 63 not out in a last-wicket partnershi­p of 48 runs with Lewis Broom (28), while Karl Bellerby claimed an excellent 5-23 early on.

CA then lost early wickets, Rob O'Brien 44, Dominic Slater 40 and Sam Sanderson 40, steadied the ship, but they were eventually all out for 165 runs, with Buck and Spalding sharing six wickets between them.

Marsden batted first at home to Hunwick and made 207-6. The visitors came up short in reply, scoring 194-8.
