Davison backed to make a big impact at Easington

-

Easington Colliery manager Ollie Hotchkiss has expressed his delight over the signing of experienced striker Mark Davison ahead of today’s visit to Redcar Town (midday kick-off ) in the Northern League Division Two encounter.

The former Morpeth Town and Whitley Bay forward made his debut in Wednesday’s 6-0 demolition of Jarrow just hours after signing and Hotchkiss is confident his latest addition can go on to make a big impact at the club.

He told the club website: “Sparky is a player we’ve admired for a long period of time and he is an unbelievable signing for the club.

“He has huge experience, which is vital for us all as a group. We are delighted to have him on board.”

Today’s other Division Two fixture sees Jarrow aiming to move on from their hammering at the hands of Easington when they face Bedlington Terriers at Craik Park, home of Northern Premier League club Morpeth Town.

Ahead of the trip to Northumberland,

Jarrow manager Kennie Malia admitted his side’s capitulation against Easington had left him ‘very shocked’ - but now wants his players to move on from a difficult night with a win.

He said: “There is a massive reaction needed after the horror show in the second-half against Easington.

“It's mad to think how well we played in the firsthalf and then some how came out looking a totally different side after halftime. I was very shocked at the performance and I was gutted for everyone associated with the club because it’s not good enough at all.

“The good thing is we can hopefully put that game to the side now as we have another crazy turnaround with a game on Friday night against Bedlington.

“I am sure the lads will want to make up for the heavy defeat and have a real go at Bedlington.”

Elsewhere on Saturday, Horden CW will hope to further their push for the play-off places when they take on struggling Washington at Ford Hub.
