-

Asda has announced it has become the first UK supermarket to launch an online prescription service.

The retailer has partnered with Pharmacy2U, the largest NHS approved online pharmacy in the UK, to launch Asda Online Pharmacy.

Asda Online Pharmacy is a platform where patients can manage prescriptions online and have them arranged for delivery to their home address.

New patients can register an account by visiting pharmacy.asda.com. Once registered, patients will be able to conveniently order prescriptions for home delivery and track their orders.

Prescriptions will then undergo thorough checks by qualified pharmacists and will be delivered straight to the patient’s door – all at no additional cost. The retailer will also be introducing a click-and-collect option from Asda’s 232 Pharmacy locations at a later date.

Asda Pharmacy’s head of pharmacy and superintendent pharmacist Faisal Tuddy, said: “We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our online prescription delivery service with Pharmacy2U. By launching this platform, we are now able to reach even more Asda customers across the country, some of whom may not have an Asda Pharmacy nearby.

“We know how important it is for families to be able to simply access their repeat prescriptions without having to worry. This expansion ensures greater convenience for our patients, who can now easily access these services online.”

Kevin Heath, CEO of Pharmacy2U, added: “At Pharmacy2U, we’re committed to making healthcare easily accessible for the whole family. We are incredibly proud to have partnered with Asda to now bring our online prescription services to a place of ease for their customers. Supermarkets play a huge role in daily life making this a natural, yet exciting next step for patients.”

New Asda pharmacy patients can now visit pharmacy.asda.com to register an account.

In other news Tesco has joined its competitors by launching a Best of British page on its website to help customers support local farmers and producers. The page contains more than 500 British products, including fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products, as well as recipes such as a spring potato salad and apple and berry crumble.

The grocer said it was continuing to provide support in the wake of recent inflationary challenges and difficult weather conditions, and continued to act as a ‘key partner’ in tackling longerterm issues such as climate change and nature loss.

Tesco’s chief commercial officer Ashwin Prasad said: “Supporting British farmers, growers and suppliers remains critical to ensuring we have a robust food industry here in the UK, and we count ourselves as proud champions of British agriculture, striving to source produce from the UK wherever possible.

“Our customers share our love for British produce, and we want to do all we can to make it as easy to find as possible, no matter how they shop with us, so we’re thrilled to be launching our Best of British page on our groceries website.”
