MAUD ON COCO

Meet Maud, the French-Caribbean surfer and artist. Born in St Martin, Maud is living out her dreams of surfing, creating art and travelling the world – all from the awesome surf town of Seignosse, France

Surf Girl - - Coco & Maud -

Maud, what’s the best thing about Coco? (After much laughing) Coco is one of my best friends. I love all the conversations we have and all the laughing and jokes. She is one of the funniest and most genuine people I know.

And the most annoying?

Her love-songs playlist ha, ha! What’s the best thing about being on the Volcom team? Sharing all the clothes and bikinis! By sharing you can travel lighter and still have double the amount of clothes. Plus it was travelling together for Volcom that we got to know each other really well. So now it’s just like going travelling with one of your besties.

The one thing you simply cannot live without?

Coffee latte with coconut milk and my surfboard.

Where’s your favourite wave?

Trestles, California.

What’s the best surf trip you’ve ever been on? A surf trip to Puerto Rico a few years ago. The waves were firing for weeks and I love the Caribbean so much for its unique vibes, the wave quality and the weather. If you could meet one celebrity, past or present, who would it be?

Vanessa Paradis. Do you ever binge watch any TV series, and if so, which ones? I am not a huge fan of TV series (because once I begin, I am addicted) but when I do watch TV I love to watch a documentary. The last one I watched was on the plane and it was called ‘An Ocean of Plastic’ – I highly recommend it.

Do you have a quote or mantra you like to live your life by? Always do your best, be grateful and embrace the simple little things in the present.

Describe your perfect day A warm day at the beach surfing all day with good waves, friends, vegan food and cocktails in a bikini

Advice for anyone who wants to learn to surf? Persevere even if sometimes you feel like it’s hard. Improving in surfing takes time and patience – it’s all about how passionate you are about the ocean and the feeling of riding a wave. If you could have any super power what would you choose?

To be able to breathe underwater.
