Charities to benefit from fifth climb
MOTOR lovers will hope to be dazzled by the vintage cars on display at the fifth running of Shere Hill Climb on September 3 near Guildford.
The field will boast 170 cars tackling the 1.1 mile and 300ft ascent course from 9am, as well as vintage motorbikes, courtesy of Brooklands Museum.
Over it’s first four years, the hill climb has handed out all of the £50,000 profits to charity. This year, the aim to raise funds for Cherry Trees, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care, GASP Motor Project and Shere Mobile Physiotherapy.
Some of the highlights of classic cars to be featured are the 1907 Beriet, 2017 McLaren 570s, a range of Fords from the Mustang to Cortina Estate as well as Jaguars, Ferrari and Porsches.
It will begin at 9am at the Staple Lane junction and head along the Surrey countryside to the summit.
There will be a lunchtime Supercar feature with the Jaguar XJ220, Lamborghini Miura and Ford GT available to see. In addition, a procession of 20 Daimler Darts and AC Cobras a Grass Autotest will be a part of the show.
Kids can be entertained at the children’s funfair and food and beverages will also be on offer.
To round off the spectacular day, they will be showing the McLaren movie in the evening at the Shere Village Hall.
