Char­i­ties to ben­e­fit from fifth climb

MO­TOR lovers will hope to be daz­zled by the vin­tage cars on dis­play at the fifth running of Shere Hill Climb on September 3 near Guild­ford.

The field will boast 170 cars tack­ling the 1.1 mile and 300ft as­cent course from 9am, as well as vin­tage mo­tor­bikes, cour­tesy of Brook­lands Mu­seum.

Over it’s first four years, the hill climb has handed out all of the £50,000 prof­its to char­ity. This year, the aim to raise funds for Cherry Trees, Phyl­lis Tuck­well Hospice Care, GASP Mo­tor Project and Shere Mo­bile Phys­io­ther­apy.

Some of the high­lights of clas­sic cars to be fea­tured are the 1907 Beriet, 2017 McLaren 570s, a range of Fords from the Mus­tang to Cortina Es­tate as well as Jaguars, Fer­rari and Porsches.

It will be­gin at 9am at the Sta­ple Lane junc­tion and head along the Sur­rey coun­try­side to the sum­mit.

There will be a lunchtime Su­per­car fea­ture with the Jaguar XJ220, Lam­borgh­ini Miura and Ford GT avail­able to see. In ad­di­tion, a pro­ces­sion of 20 Daim­ler Darts and AC Co­bras a Grass Au­totest will be a part of the show.

Kids can be en­ter­tained at the chil­dren’s fun­fair and food and bev­er­ages will also be on of­fer.

To round off the spec­tac­u­lar day, they will be show­ing the McLaren movie in the evening at the Shere Vil­lage Hall.
