Auction is May’s bid to help badgers nationwide
BRIAN May is preparing to hold a charity auction to raise money for regional badger charities.
The Queen guitarist, animal rights campaigner and Windlesham resident will auction 11 signed guitars over 11 days, with all proceeds going towards 11 carefully chosen organisations.
The guitars were specially created by Badger Guitars and will be listed for auction on eBay for 24 hours between Saturday August 26 to Tuesday September 5.
Proceeds from each auction will go to badger charities up and down the country which are most affected by the cull policy.
Dr May is well known for his animal rights activism, and the auction will kick off with funding going towards his own charity – the Save Me Trust.
Mark Badger from Badger Guitars said the company was ‘honoured to be a part of this great auction event and provide these guitars for such a worthy cause’.
“Hopefully through the auction and surrounding publicity generated over the coming weeks more people will awaken and be made aware of all the cruelty and stupid acts that have been taking place over the past several years,” he said.
The guitars were donated by Philip White, founder of Red Badger records. He added: “I have always wanted to take my charity work to the next level.
“This will hopefully be the first of many projects, and hopefully more, that are badger oriented.”
