Castle Green enjoy a touch of Dutch fun
ELEVEN members of the Haagse Bowls Club in The Hague, Holland, visited Guildford’s Castle Green Bowls Club on Tuesday, August 22.
They arrived at the club after spending the morning shopping for new bowling equipment at the Bowlswear Direct shop by Stoke Park, and some of their newly bought equipment was put to use in their afternoon match with at Castle Green.
Three triples matches were played between the two clubs, 12 ends played in two series of six ends each, with some team adjustments at the halfway stage to make sure everyone had a go.
Haagse Bowls Club normally play on an artificial surface at home, and for several of them this was the first time they had played on grass.
Rain threatened for a while, but held off, the green was in sparkling condition and a great time was had by all, with very little attention being paid to the score. Other results:
