Cas­tle Green en­joy a touch of Dutch fun

ELEVEN mem­bers of the Haagse Bowls Club in The Hague, Hol­land, vis­ited Guild­ford’s Cas­tle Green Bowls Club on Tues­day, Au­gust 22.

They ar­rived at the club af­ter spend­ing the morn­ing shop­ping for new bowl­ing equip­ment at the Bowl­swear Di­rect shop by Stoke Park, and some of their newly bought equip­ment was put to use in their af­ter­noon match with at Cas­tle Green.

Three triples matches were played be­tween the two clubs, 12 ends played in two se­ries of six ends each, with some team ad­just­ments at the half­way stage to make sure ev­ery­one had a go.

Haagse Bowls Club nor­mally play on an ar­ti­fi­cial sur­face at home, and for sev­eral of them this was the first time they had played on grass.

Rain threat­ened for a while, but held off, the green was in sparkling con­di­tion and a great time was had by all, with very lit­tle at­ten­tion be­ing paid to the score. Other re­sults:
